While sympathetic to the peace of the comatose, as a medical officer it's my duty to intervene and apply mouth to mouth on occasion.

Recently I encountered a rotund object in Ward 13. As the old Sanskrit sloka said, "akhanda mandalakaram byaptam jena characharam" - endless, round-formed, permeating all things moving and unmoving.

No, this was not the spherical, all-pervasive awareness of the Hindu universe, it was a rather large immovable object which my quick actions found to be alive. a little prodding revealed a certain catter, who shall remain nameless, but can be recognised by their obsession with donuts, and while the sound emitting from this object could have been mistaken for an "Ooommmm" I believed it to be a cross between a circular snore and a death rattle.

At once, I lept upon the prone drone, thumping the rising chest rhythmically by jumping carefully on it, as I breathed life into the old circle of flesh.

Miraculously, this man-dala came to life and started sputtering loquaciously about Jamieson's and jam donuts.

aah, the foolishness of the long distance ruminator.. but all life is precious, and the endless circle of birth, death and rebirth will yet be unbroken, as a donut is a perfect symbol of the harmony of existence - circular, sweet, and empty within, yet filled by an enormous space - the Universe itself.
