One of the most magical things I ever saw was on the farm of a friend I was doing some work for. His chickies were graduating up to the yard, and to move them, he showed me how to put their feets two at a time between our fingers, holding them upside down like I would carry a dozen wineglasses. They relax immediately and go peacefully wherever you want.

Whereupon you gently flip them over onto their feet, they shake off and run around like they just had a nap!
