It is a strange sensation to find myself so devastated by the loss of someone with whom my relationship existed largely in cyberspace. I fear Malcolm is irreplacable in terms of his huge knowledge and his generosity and patience in sharing it. Many of the above remarks have echoed my feeling that Malcolm's messages on any topic were the ones I would always look out for. He would never rush to comment, but always wait until he was absolutely certain of what he had to say. And those of you who might hold an image in your mind of some dusty academic, would possibly be surprised by some of his musical tastes and the artwork mentioned above.
