I think I get the idea now, and it does sound like a workable project - maybe a Mudcatter Memorial PermaThread, limited to one message per person, including a brief statement about the person, a link to his/her posts and obituary, and links to anything else pertinent.
If you'd like to set it up and manage it, let me know.
