What I liked about music in the 1950s is what I like about music now and that is the material, the song. The song can be enhanced with the right accompaniment and presentation or can be damaged with too much from the singer and or musicians. The statue of country performers in the 1950s was built around their consistency with music that appealed to audiences, not stage flash or how well they fitted into their jeans. Jerry's references to American Idol pretty much describes the current state of music and what is wrong with it. The commercial music industry is selling sex instead of music.
