As you probably heard, Pete Seeger turns 90 on May 3rd, and there is a lot happening including a star-studded charity concert honoring him at Madison Square Garden. In addition, on April 21st Smithsonian Folkways is releasing the American Favorite Ballads Box Set featuring 139 classic songs of just Pete and his guitar and banjo. And like all Smithsonian Folkways releases, it includes extensive biographical and musical liner notes.

The box set is not available until April 21st but there will soon be a few free downloads and other goodies at the Smithsonian Folkways site.
