I seem to keep writing songs about this subject, maybe because in this, our economic down turn, I'm finding that there are plenty of folks that ain't got enough and can't figure out how to get more. I just finished one called, "It Takes Money To Make Money, Honey". I also recently finished, "Too Little Money, Not Enough Time".I enjoy playing Willie McTell's "Last Dime Blues" and my friend Robert 'OneMan' Johnson's, "Hundred Dollar Women", "I Want To Be In A Barroom", "What Got Wrong With You?" as well as Willie Dixon's "Dead Presidents", all of which have references to money in them.
My songs:
"Ace in the Hole"
"Wall Street Bail Out Blues"
"Handsful o' Blues"
"Duct and Cover"
"Cold Cold Wind"
"Chasin' the American Dream"
"Do You Know the Way to Macrame?"
"F-R-E-E"
"How I Scraped My Knuckle"
"I'll Do Anything to Make a Buck"
"Pepper Jelly Lady"
"Sometimes That Bear Bites You"
"That's More Like It"
"Stuck in Gridlock Again"
"The Devil"
"Wanted Used Car"
"You Can Be a Street Musician"
"Why" and probably a few others that I can't think of just now, all contain references to the word money or various denominations of currency.
