Thread Name: BS: The Best Worst Films
Subject: RE: BS: The Best Worst Films
This thread has wandered a lot of course, but I think it started as "movies so bad that they are a favorite to watch." Like I think "My Dinner with Andre" blows aardvarks but I get no enjoyment out of the piece of tripe.

On the other hand, Ed Wood stuff just cracks me up. The movies are absolutely terrible from any standpoint, but I just love to watch them becasue they are so damn bad. "G/g" is poor Ed's stab at social issues (in this case his own personal one) but "Plan Nine" just sucks from every angle......and its absolutely hilarious to me. I find myself continually amazed thinking, "Geeziz, did he work at making something so lousy because it is exquisitely lousy and that ain't easy!"............but I guess it was for Ed.

Watching the cops is sheer joy. They leave the station at night, arrive at the house in daylight in a different car, and then go to the cemetery a few blocks away, arriving at night and in a different car. That whole scene is supposed to be one flowing thing but the flow is much like Shit Creek where Ed obviously filmed.

And of course Bela died before the thing really got underway and Ed uses the same few scenes he shot over and over with a stand-in when more was needed. Then, as mentioned before, there are the "SPECIAL EFFECTS." Yeah.....Lemme just say you need to watch them over and over because you're laughing your ass off or shaking your head and you miss the not-so-subtle nuances.

I actually DID enjoy the Johnny Depp portrayal of Ed and Martin Landau was a fabulous Bela.
