make it even simpler

Play the root note only

Then you could play 3 bottom notes of the I IV and V chords

Start with the 5th String A = I

4th string D = IV

6th String   E   = V


use a capo to go up to the 4th fret to find your singing range, pitch , key

Then Go open again [sans capo]
         
4th String = I
         
         3rd   = IV

         5th   = V


then capo again up to 5th
