I just saw some of the time travel collection of Star Trek episodes, and it's amazing how the later versions were so open about when you travel back to the US in the 20th century how "violent, petty, bigoted, and selfish" humans "were" - so this isn't thread creep, really. No gentle message like Oh, the head guy is black, I wouldn't have thought of that, amazing.
