Paypal is instant if you debit it to a credit card account.

THat is IMHO dangerous because although in the UK if you give a drect debit mandate on a bank account, the "direct debit guarantee" ensures that if you the accountholder cancel the authority before money is taken, it will not be permitted to be taken. If it is taken you can look to your bank here in the UK for compensation.

If you debit your credit card there is no equivalent guarantee and you can tell your credit card issuer until you are blue in the face not to allow the money to go, but they will still honour the mandate if Paypal so requests, and sue you for the money. You have to get your money back from Paypal and its network of US and Liechtenstein corporations. Good luck.
