Just a few questions from a confused motoriist, regarding basic logic.

How efficient is any power station producing electricity? Lets say 50%, it depends on which fuel is used in the first place.

How efficient is the electricity from the plug in charging the battery, I do not know!, but certainly it wont be 100%, some will be lost.

How efficient is the battery running the car, again I doubt 100%.
Good previous point about carrying the weight of the batteries, so some will be lost.

All this lost energy has created CO2 and the like, which is what, I believe is the reason for all these deliberations.

How efficient is the Petrol or the diesel engine? I believe this is above 50%, please correct me if I am wrong.

Why, therefore, do we appear to be trying hard and travelling backwards.
