Cruelty is another issue. I am never cruel.I like dogs as I like most animals, but I will not tolerate being bitten.

My older brother used to walk every day and he carried a golf club. An old woman asked him what the club was for and he said, "Dogs."
She said "That's cruel." he replied, "Not if they stay on their property."
I appreciated his clarity of thought. It's a talent so many people lack.
