Ah yes the lockable hubs. I remember them and my poor frozen fingers trying to turn them to correct postion in the dark.

I had not that morning as it was not snowing when I left home. In fact snow had only started as I approached that descent. Might very well have made a difference.

Should have known that it would not be sticking so readily unless there was ice beneath.

Think the most annoying blizzard driving I have had was when idiots in front of me following to close to car in front of them, rear ended them on a curve (same road as both events above) and caused another car coming from other direction to slam into them. I managed to slide off the road onto shoulder and into ditch some 3 car lengths away, but had good view of the curve and the repeating scene of numbnuts going around me and sliding into the accident clogging up the curve. 12 vehicles smashed up in the end with long streams of cars from both directions backed up. I was stuck in slush, mud and snow for something like 6 hours. Froze my buns, I can tell you. Had to keep getting out to clear snow off my emergency lights, so following drivers would be warned of problem ahead. Not one bastard stopped to ask if I was ok. Not even the emergency crews (there were injuries). I had to ask driver of fire truck to stop the following traffic in order to give me oppourtunity to pull out of the ditch, else I would have been left there rest of afternoon and night.

Meanwhile I am freaking about getting up that goddamn mountain (the one I wrecked on previously) to get back home, because the snow was just getting deeper and deeper.

I was lucky, though. At the bottom there was a plough behind which cars were queuing to go up hill. State police had set up so only one way traffic in turns (up and down) to follow the plough.

Now remind me why I miss snow?
