Thread Name: Folk music in South East London
Subject: RE: Folk music in South East London
The George is one of the oldest pubs in London and has its own site. If you Google it ,it is easy enough to find, It is in the High Street on the South Side of London Bridge, about five minutes walk from the station, The music is mainly English, French and Breton and the session is held in the function bar which is underneath the gallery. There is usually very little Irish music played, but there are no rules as regards to what music is played. On the down side, the beer is expensive and as Richard says there are a number of City workers there when the session starts at 8 ish, but they will disperse as the evening progresses. About 9-30 a coach load of people turn up as The George is part of the London Old Pubs tour and some come in to listen to the music. After a request for Amazing Grace, which is normally declined they get back on their coach for the next pub. Al
