68-9 was probably when the racist incident happened. The ice cream depot had closed by then, and that guy and I had moved on job wise. Certainly I never saw him again after that. And 'young singer from the Wirral' would have fitted him. Unfortunately, I can't remember a blind thing about him except that I think he wore glasses, was fairly tall and thin and had brown hair.
