Thread Name: Lyr Req: I'm always glad to see a man like thee
Subject: Lyr Req: I'm always glad to see a man like thee
The above song I am trying to refer to has been a song 'worm' in my head for the past two weeks and I can't get shut of it. So please help me.

I know it goes smething like :

'Well I'm always glad to see a man (mon?) like thee
You're as welcome lad as welcome as can be
Pull your chair reight up to table
Stop as long as thou art able
For I'm always glad to see a man (mon?) like thee'

Trouble is that's about all I can remember - something about a tramp who is a long lost brother - and that's it!

I punched it into the 'Lyrics and Knowledge' search but came up with nothing.

I first heard it sung in a strong Lancashire (Oldham?) accent and it could be from an album I've heard called 'Uppards' and the name John Cockin comes to mind but I am not sure.

But I know it is a reight good song and want to learn it so if anyone knows all the words I would really appreciate your contribution.

I'm also searching for the 'Grandma' and 'Albert' songs.
Again I associate these with 'Uppards' and John Cockin but it is a long time since I heard them and my 'Uppards' CD is lamentably long lost.

I do remember a song about 'Albert and the Lion' and believe there was a whole series of 'Albert' and 'Grandma' songs.

So again, fellow Mudcatters, if you can help me fill in the gaps and proper educate me about these very fine songs I would be most grateful.

Thanks very much.
