when I bought my 3-in-one CD player several years ago I dispensed with the remote control cos it's at arms length from my computer desk & a bit further from my worktable.

Besides, I'd never had any piece of electronic equipment that came with a remote control & couldn't see any reason to use one.

Far Side has a great cartoon about the bloke who uses a broomstick to change TV channel so he doesn't need to stand up.
