Isn't a Spancel (Spell?) a particularly horrible piece of witchcraft in which a strip of skin is cut from a human body all around the person? That is, around the fingers, up the arms over head down to feet, toes, around crotch and etc.etc. You come up with an outline which can be worn or thrown around someone or something or other. I think it's supposed to give you power over the person surrounded by it, I'm not sure.
