Thread Name: BS: Programming the remote control
Subject: RE: BS: Programming the remote control
We have the usual collection of remotes in the living room, and most of them are perched on top of what they work. But there are three for the television--because to record anything from the converter box it has to run through the VCR/DVD to the TV. If you leave the VCR on you can take care of most television transactions with the converter box remote, and I tend to skip the features on the TV that require that dedicated remote.
It's like the spatula thread--how many remotes do you own? Living room--VCR/DVD, TV, Converter Box, CD player; front room, DVD player, VCR player, TV, Converter Box; office, TV, Converter Box, Radio (with CD changer). We make a point of always setting down the remote in the room it belongs before leaving or we have a mess trying to get them all to the correct devices. The converter boxes are all the same, the remotes look alike, but they're each programed to different types of televisions.
