Out of the service and back in college on the G.I. Bill, I once sold my high school ring to make a down payment on a Martin D-28 in 1967. Now, both are gone. Most folks never wear their high school rings after graduation, so I felt it was a good move at the time. The ultimate choice was giving up the guitar a couple of years later when my company went belly up and we had a baby on the way. I have had many others since, but I would dearly love to have that D-28 back. No regrets, however.
