True, but the first big tribute, to them all, not just Ronnie Drew, only came in 1987 with a Late Late special (which RTE broadcast again last week by the way) where they were joined by every man and his dog. Even fecking Charlie Haughey came on stage to sing along with the Auld Triangle.

Ronnie Drew got his tribute song much later. And as I said, you're right, he was still alive when it came.
