O.K. Dan. Here's one. (I am not disremembering this though it may have been a repeat performance.) Will and Herta Geer had a pickup truck to take the three of us in a front seat with Woody sleeping in the truck bed. (I think he could sleep any where). We were doing
a program for the Lady's Auxiliary somewhere in North Hollywood. The ladies had heard of Woody Guthrie through the grapevine though had never met or saw him perform. We sat at a banquet guest table awaiting Woody's introduction by the hostess. When it came time,
Woody was introduced as I recall in a manner befitting a classical musician. Something like "the eminent Mr. Guthrie will grace us with his folk song repertoire." Upon cue, Woody
scraped his chair backward, grabbed his guitar from behind his back, let out a distinctive
belch, and sang the following:

"Oh the Lady's Auxiliary is a fine Auxiliary.
It's the best Auxiliary that you ever did see.
If you want an Auxiliary, get the Lady's Auxiliary,
The finest Auxiliary for you and me."

Now this might have been a repeat performance for Woody but somehow I don't think so.
It occurred some time around the early 1950's.
