"Four colleges for women in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur district have prohibited their students from wearing jeans on campus, citing the move will check eve-teasing incidents." DCC principal Jamal says boys "indulge in uncouth behaviour, particularly with girls wearing body-hugging jeans. It's a routine affair here."
The college is planning a dress code.
The four colleges are affiliated with Kanpur University. [Kanpur state has about 4 million inhabitants. Uttar Pradesh has about 190 million].
Students consider the decision illogical. "If they want to check eve-teasing, they must approach the police, said .... a DDC student..."

So what's new? Many schools below college levels in U. S. and Canada, esp. private schools, have dress codes. Many colleges also have regulations against provocative clothing.
