Last night on Larry King, the new Miss California made one of the most astute political comments of the modern era.

It was in the midst of a group discussion about what the dismissal of the old Miss California really meant. Larry asked, "How do *you* feel about same-sex marriage?"

Tami Farrell's answer (I paraphrase slightly): "I don't think America should be turning to its beauty queens to set social policy."

Everybody nodded sagely as though thinking "Hmm" in unison.
