After that, I slowly realized that I'd been so intent on sex, I'd actually lost some of my ability to love a woman. I believe that when sex becomes casual and frequent, with many partners, the participants begin investing less and less of themselves in the relationship because they don't want a lot of emotional turmoil when it's over. Not good preparation for marriage -- or at least it wasn't in my case. Annabelle and I went through some rough times because of this but after 37 years together (!) we are convinced that today ours is a happier marriage than we could have ever foreseen.
