I think by comparing gay marriage to getting a tattoo, one aligns oneself with the freedom to choose camp.

So they aren't likely to get upset - only the "make it illegal" camp, as they bekiev that it is not an issue of civil liberties but a matter of acceptable lifestyle, morality, ethics, taste etc etc.

I personbally think the way it is compared to tattoos above sums up the whole point.

Gay? wanna get married? ... ok ... nothing to do with me ... as long as you're happy I see no reason to get in your way.

Into body art? want a tattoo? ... ok ... nothing to do with me ... (etc etc)


So the only thing not taken seriously are objections to gay people getting married.

And rightly so.
