Thread Name: Sgaw Karen hymnal tunes
Subject: RE: Sgaw Karen hymnal tunes
I quite agree with your comments about voiced/unvoiced consonant abutments, and romanizations. My guess is "Sgaw/Sqaw"'s a closer rhyme with "scow" than with "squaw". "Sgaw" is the most frequent romanization. My hope is that this will remain a music thread, and to that end I hope in the next day or two to post the two or three tunes that are actually identified as "Karen airs" in the hymnal, as well as the Karen National Anthem (which is of Karen composition but in a rather western/general "national anthem style").
