Thread Name: Tech: Removing MusicMatch Jukebox
Subject: RE: Tech: Removing MusicMatch Jukebox
Windows uninstall can only uninstall programs that were installed in accordance with the Windows specification.

Music Match Jukebox is NOT A MICROSOFT PROGRAM, so it's possible that it doesn't use standard Windows installation, in which case one can't rationally blame Microsoft if the standard uninstall doesn't work properly. Blaming Microsoft irrationally is fairly widely accepted practice, so go ahead and stick with the mob if you like.

In WinXP the program that Windows attempts to open when you click on a file can be changed in Control Panel|Folder Options, on the File Types tab. If you find the file extension(s) that have problems and click on them, it should tell you what program is set to open a particular file type.

For programs that conform to Windows standard installation methods, removing a program should delete the program from this list for all file types set to use that program. Removing a non-conforming program may leave the instruction to use a program that no longer exists, or that was damaged by an attempted removal.

Just change the setting to another program that is on your computer, and your files will stop trying to use the program that was removed or was "broken" by the attempt to remove it.
