Thread Name: BS: Snake not in the grass
Subject: RE: BS: Snake not in the grass
On the off chance it really is a Striped Crayfish Snake, one of their favorite hunting grounds is masses of water hyacinth (a non-native aquatic plant that can grow into immense masses and completely clog waterways in Florida). The dangling roots of water hyacinths are good habitat for small crustaceons upon which the snakes feed. So, name the snake "Hyacinth". If it's a Ribbon Snake, it won't mind. Just don't tell it where the name came from.
