Hi
I'm new here as a poster, although Mudcat has been a great source to dip in and out of and always provides me with a fascinating read.
I was sent an e-mail by someone asking if I could identify a song - something that I'm usually quite good at - but I was stumped and wondered if anyone could help. Here is the email: "A fortnight ago I heard a song on a local British roots music program and I have been trying to find it ever since. I don't have a lot of details, but if anyone can dig it out of their hat, it's you.
The recurring phrase, which makes me think it a likely candidate for a title, was "I was just like you". Sung from the point of view of an old man reminiscing on his youth.
The recording that played was a recent release, the show touted it as the North American debut.
As I remember it, it was pretty much a male solo voice accompanied by a concertina.
I am still trying to track down the show's playlist, or better yet an archived copy of the show. I know I haven't given much to go on, but, if any of that rings any bells for you, I would appreciate any leads you might provide."
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Tony
