I had one at the base of my thumb which appeared after some twisting movement. Didn't go to the doctor because I thought I was about to move, and thought it needed longer with the same doctor than I had. I used various wrist supports, and ended up with a leather one that had belonged to my Dad - posspibly his before him! After a while, it just went away. REading this has been concerning.
