"Drifting Too Far From the Shore" was copyright 1944 by Stamps-Baxter and C. E. Moody, renewed 1972. It appeared in "Calvary Songs," Stamps-Baxter Music & Ptg. Co. The original copyright may be 1929 (when the Carolina Gospel Singers recorded it) but it is believed that Moody wrote it in 1924, when he was with the Yellow Hammers.
Does anyone know of a recording of this period and/or initial copyright information? Or have a copy of the lyrics before those of the Carolina Gospel Singers?

Words in the DT differ slightly from those in the Stamps-Baxter publication, "Heavenly Highway Hymns." It is easier to post the lyrics than to point out word differences. Of the several versions of the lyrics on the net, that of Jerry Garcia is closest to that in "H. H. H."
