As I see it, the problem with diy on the wrist or hand is the possibility of permanent damage. Screwing up the ligament that controls grasping a glass or bottle, for example, could really louse up your drinking. Worse, it could damage a nerve plexus and THAT could really screw things up.

Go see a hand and wrist doctor (not a general surgeon).
