Thread Name: A Thank You to The Rescuers
Subject: A Thank You to The Rescuers
Sometimes we forget.
Today, on the way home from Torquay, a friend and I drove past an horrific crash scene, the likes of which I've never seen before.
On the opposite side of the road, the traffic was in total chaos. In the middle of their highway sat the Devon Air Ambulance Helicopter, surrounded by Fire Engines, masses of Police Cars and Ambulances, whilst at the back on the Hard Shoulder sat huge lorries waiting to tow away the broken cars..but first, they had to be emptied of their broken people.
Three hours later the road was still in chaos. Two people had died at the scene and so they were having to take as much evidence as possible, before allowing the traffic back again.
All those men and women, the Firefighters, the Ambulance crews, the Police, the Helicopter team, all working to save the lives of others, regardless of the risks to themselves..
So, I just wanted to say Thank You to folks like Bruce and any other Mudcatters, or non-Mudcatters out there who do that gruesome job for ordinary people like us.
You're all absolute Angels, and sometimes we forget to tell you.
