Do Re Mi
w: Oscar Hammerstein II m: Richard Rogers
Again, from The Sound of Music
RUS pg. 23
(Intro)
Let's start at the very beginning.
A very good place to start.
When you read you begin with A, B, C,
When you sing you begin with do re mi (3x)
The first three notes just happen to be
Do re mi (children) do re mi.
Doe - a deer, a female deer,
Ray - a drop of golden sun.
Me - a name I call myself,
Far - a long, long way to run.
Sew - a needle pulling thread.
La - a note to follow 'sew.'
Tea - a drink with jam and bread,
That will bring us back to Doe.
Good luck. Again, not folk, but maybe when it gets older.
