Farmers, in general, never repair anything properly. Everything is lashed up with bits of baler string. But if we asked him first, I supplied the pipe and someone else the joints, he MIGHT be prepared to turn off the relevant stopcock to permit and enable us to do it for him (without having to battle with mains pressure at the time...).
