Talking on the cell phone while driving is not permitted everywhere, even with a "hands free" setup.

Thinking back, I often read while I walked to college (and still read while I walk sometimes). I was very aware of my route, however, as I took it at least twice every day AND I checked before crossing the streets at the corners. (There were also sidewalks.)
