In the 70s one of the better folk clubs in Melbourne was held at the Rainbow hotel in Brunswick, whose publican was an exJesuit (Mr Costigan, who had married an exnun and whose brother was a Royal Commissioner who buried the "Bottom of the harbour" tax schemes; info for the benefit of Oz old farts). The main bar had an extensive library, including the Kinsey Report and other excentricities and, usually, a collection of eccentrics categorised as "The Experts"; they could pontificate endlessly (and accurately) on any aspect of sport you'd care to name.

Mostly they drank Fosters but nobody's perfect.
