I am just going to have a nice Bunnahabhain to go with the Ibuprofen.

The best pub round here used to be the Jug Inn at Chapel Haddlesey, one-time venue for the Yorks gatherings. The landlord was a GOG of the finest calibre, and he didn't half keep a good pint or five! It used to be fun to drop in there and see if he and his wife were on speaking terms!

He was always Uncle Syd to my girls, and my older daughter used to work at the pub, first waitressing, and then behind the bar the minute she could do it legally. Syd would quite often run her home if I was having problems. He was the GOG with the heart of gold.

The Jemmy Hirst in Rawcliffe has become a replacement for the Jug. I shall be in there for the quiz and bingo tomorrow, and the session next Weds. The only trouble is that it's about 8 miles from me, where the Jug was 3, and I had been known to bike it...
