Thread Name: I hate dogs
Subject: RE: I hate dogs
I have had a lifetime of Weimaraners, often two or more at a time. They are very intelligent and were bred to be not just hunters but companions. They've often been referred to as a dog with the human brain. They make excellent service dogs as well as being great for nursing home visits. But like with any, its all in the training. Weims just really want to please you though so its a bit easier with them. Loyal to a fault, their need for human interaction is so strong that many (most really) suffer from separation anxiety which is easily fixed if you just take them along everywhere you go.......and I generally do. Having more than one eases this problem as well.

The old hound laying on my feet as I type has lived longer than most Weims do already but even with all her problems of aging, she's still a happy girl. Almost blind now and about totally deaf, she still recognizes that Tim Horton's bag that holds her Apple Fritter. And whenever she can she steals my Tim's coffee as well. A very happy old pup........When that ceases I will do right by her. She and her mate Jaeger were the finest Weims I ever shared life with and Sissy will sadly but probably be my last. I could never find better.

Most dog problems as has been stated are really owner problems. We play games with puppies that seem to be fun but sometimes are teaching the pup all the wrong things. I suggest anyone with any interest in having well trained dogs that are a pleasure to take along anywhere become familiar with the methods of the Monks of New Skete:
