Worse than that, Derek Bentley, Timothy Evans and Jimmy Hanratty (his "pardon" is still in the "pipeline") were all innocent too. They are all dead - hanged, as former Master of the Rolls Lord Denning wished the Birmingham Six had been, so they would not have been able to expose British justice to ridicule.

Be fair to the cops though: most of the time that they're bending and fabricating the evidence, they do believe they're dealing with guilty people, and merely fast-tracking the process. The problem is that it's not their place to judge, and when they do they often get it wrong.

Without doubt there is the occasional genuine villain among them, just as Sorcha seems to have found one of the decent variety.
