Rapaire, for a countryside dweller especially, that's an excellent approach IMO. I've no personal contention with those who do so as it's the most honest and humane approach to meat eating. I have a mate who was fully veggie for twenty years, then turned 'hunter gatherer' and now gets occasional meat by fishing, shooting pheasants and rabbits. I'd be willing to shoot and skin an animal, so long as the life was healthy, the death was swift, and the food was decent.
On the other hand I also deeply dislike those 'blood sports', which have a complete disconnect to any more pragmatic household requirements. Of course pragmatic household requirements were the very same ones that drew poachers with a family to feed, to the wealthy "sportsmans" land, and also often had him hanged for it. A bad show.
