"ducks,coots,moorhens and grebes"

Most people I know have never seen these birds, and certainly not in the heart of a metropolis. Extraordinary.

By the way, bubbly, I saw my first grebe at the age of 40 in Everglades National Park. An elderly lady came up to me and said, "Did you see the grebe? He's the cutest little fellow! Turn left at the second alligator, and you'll see him in the water."

Since then "turn left at the second alligator" has become a catchphrase in my family.
