I agree that many of the very best moments over the years have not been planned, have just happened. (I also have had the feeling that I have missed something really good, or that I have heard of things just too late.) In fact, when they first started organizing a pub sing after concerts, and when they decided for a time that access to YTB would be a benefit of being a Friend of the Festival, I was a bit concerned that it would kill some of that spontaneity. But I think having an area during the day that was an accepted spot where one goes to share songs might encourage the sharing rather than damp the spontaneity. Of course, there are already so many great places to be that it is impossible for me to be everywhere I want.
