Can anybody explain to me how to shift an entire database, currently in Access on XP, on to a different database program, preferably in Open Office or something flexible.

I don't want to have to re-enter 800 entries each with 20 odd fields

I gather Access is on its way out, and anyway it is not readable on Mac or non-Microsoft machines.

Plain English preferred: a little geek-speak acceptable.
