The kind of answer required is in the question.

lilly wants to share folkdom with a soulmate.
Opposites do not attract. Research has been reported in the New Scientist which indicates that whatever the differences that appear to outsiders (who arbitrarily choose a subset of each whole person to describe them) - the similarities are more numerous by a large margin. You have to be able to share a lot of similarities to be able to share a lot of time. Dis-similarities can be highly annoying.

The only time I have seen a lot of what appeared to be "odd couples" was in New Zealand out in the Wapwaps. Rural communities in remoter areas have less chance to mix and presumeably have to be less choosy in some aspects. Or remain single. Or move.
