On Tom Paxton #6, he does a great song called "Saturday Night".....in my view, much better than "Wasn't That a Party?" which was of the same genre/theme. Anyway, one of the lines in "Saturday Night" is "And somebody's ordering scotch and coke", a symbol of how debauched the evening was (and was about to become......"George is out calling a cab with the stranger who still has her tongue in his ear"). Similiarly, putting single malt scotch in soup, in stew, adding it to milk, drinking it with ice, etc. etc., are all completely blasphemous as I'm sure John McKenzie would agree. My dear departed mother had an old 78" vinyl record of Sir Harry Lauder and on it he did "Just a Wee Doch an Doris". One of the lines, and a great test if you have nipped too much at that single malt is, "and if ye' can say it's a braw' bricht' moon lich't nich't, then it's alright you can!"! Good night, all!
