In order to open an account on Facebook, or indeed on almost any internet site, you have to give personal information which allows them to contact you by means other than the web.

I would like to know what action Facebook takes against those who steal other's identities in order to destroy their reputations.

IMO, these people should have their IPs, and home addresses blocked from internet service providers, so that they cannot use the web for ANY purpose.

Facebook knows who they really are, and should act in our behalf to remove them.
