First, Karlheinz Schreiber was not deported. He is a Canadian citizen for 27 years and was extradited. No other country extradites its own citizens, including Germany. Instead it tries them in its own courts for crimes committed elsewhere. Schreiber was always clear he was quite willing to face trial in Canada.
Second, Schreiber does not face charges of gun-running. The accusations in Germany have to do with the German Army selling tanks it already possessed to Saudi Arabia. No evidence in any country Schreiber was involved in arms.
Third, Schreiber has never been charged with any crimes in Canada. The issue for Canada relates to its own politicians and political culture.
